Liverpool could be close to hijacking a deal for Nuri Sahin after it emerged that Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring the Turkish midfielder on loan to Anfield. According to the Daily Mail, Rodgers is hoping that his relationship with Jose Mourinho will help him get the Real Madrid star ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, who are both said to be interested.
Mourinho was the manager at Chelsea during Rodgers’ time at the club and the two are thought to still be close. Of course the new Tottenham boss was also part of the coaching set up at Stamford Bridge during Mourinho’s era but the relationship between the Real Madrid coach and Villas-Boas is infamously strained.
Sahin arrived at the Bernabeu in 2011 after impressing at Borussia Dortmund. However he has failed to establish himself as a first team member and has only managed 10 games since the transfer leading him to request a loan for more first team opportunities.
