Oscar may only have joined Chelsea this summer but the Brazil international is thinking long-term about his future at Stamford Bridge, with the Daily Mirror reporting that the midfielder has revealed he wants to become a Chelsea icon the stature of John Terry or Frank Lampard.
The £25m signing from Internacional only made his first Chelsea start last month but immediately grabbed the headlines, scoring twice in the Champions League against the Serie A title-winners Juventus. Oscar’s first goal beat Juventus’ legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon with the help of a deflection, but his memorable second stunned the Italy international with its power, accuracy and movement through the air.
Oscar remarked that his performance against Juventus has changed the way people in England view him as a player, something he is keen to maintain, and added that he hopes he can replicate what the likes of Terry and Lampard mean at the club.
He said: “I hope to have the same path as Lampard and Terry here at Chelsea. They have a great career at the club and are very important for the squad. They are big idols.”
