Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has placed Brazilian duo Willian and Leandro Damiao on the top of his transfer wish list, The Telegraph has reported.
Willian, currently playing with Shakhtar Donestk, has impressed in his side’s Champions League campaign this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists as the Ukranian side qualified for the knockout stages. He has been heavily linked with Chelsea of recent, with a bid in the summer apparently turned down.
Damiao currently plays for Brazilian club Internacional, and has already been capped at the international level for Brazil. He has scored 28 goals in 72 senior appearances for his club, as well as notching two goals for Brazil in 14 games.
Villas-Boas believes both players are targets for Spurs, who currently sit 3rd in the Premier League: “We got in touch with Willian in the summer, and he is one of the players that interests us. I like his style but we could no reach the value Shakhtar were asking. It does not mean we won’t try again.”
Damiao, who scored six goals in six appearances for the Brazilian Olympic squad in 2012, also caught the eye of Villas-Boas, with him saying: “For Damiao, he has a spectacular Olympics. We follow the best players and youngsters. Leandro fits this profile. He has had injuries after London 2012, but he is a player that is always on our list.
Spurs are chasing down a Champions League spot after missing out last season’s due to Chelsea won the final, relegating 4th placed Spurs into the Europa League.
