Alou Diarra has stated that he has wasted his time at West Ham and wants to leave Upton Park, according to ESPN.
The Hammers misfit has made only five appearances for the club since joining from Marseille last summer, where he was a fully established international with France. He has since fallen off current France coach Didier Deschamps’ radar following a turbulent spell in London.
Diarra blames agents and a frosty relationship with current manager Sam Allardyce for his failure to make an impact at the club. Speaking to L’Equipe, the former Bayern Munich and Liverpool midfielder said: “
“The objective is to get back playing. Last year, I played some 60 games. At West Ham, I’ve wasted my time.”
Diarra, who failed to make a first team appearance during his three year stay at Anfield between 2002 and 2005, speaking of the agent who brokered his transfer to the Hammers, adds:
“He arrived in a private jet at Marseille, and promised me the world. What he said was attractive. It was England, London, West Ham, a popular club with a real identity. It was the chance to establish myself in the Premier League. I didn’t think too much about it, I just trusted him.
“After a few weeks, I realised that there had been a lot of lies. I’ve been had.”
Diarra, who has also played for Bordeaux, Lens and Lyon in his native France, then moved on to Allardyce, whom the player admits he had not spoken to before joining the East Londoners. He said: “Certain people have said that I haven’t been able to establish myself, but they don’t know the reality of my situation. To establish myself, I have to have the chance to do so.
“In every club I’ve been at, I’ve always had a chat with the coach to find out what he expected of me, how the team plays, my position etc. Since I arrived, I’ve never spoken to the manager. It’s just ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’. There’s no dialogue, no explanation.”
There have been reports throughout the current transfer window that Diarra could be leaving Upton Park after just six months, with Inside Futbol claiming that Queens Park Rangers could be preparing a bid to take the unhappy midfielder across London.
More recently, they also claim that Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim could be prepared to end Diarra’s nightmare in England and take the player back to the continent.
