Birmingham City have signed midfielder Andrew Shinnie from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, reports BBC Sport.
The 23-year-old, who had previously been reported to have had talks with the Midlands club, has made a pre-contract agreement with Birmingham, before he moves to St Andrew’s in the summer on a three-year deal.
The move comes despite the Highland club’s best efforts to keep Shinnie at the Caledonian Stadium. The midfielder, who has spent the last two seasons at Inverness, has been in fine form this term scoring 15 times for Thistle who currently sit third in the Scottish Premier League. Shinnie had previously spent two loan spells with Dundee after beginning his career with Glasgow club Rangers before heading north in the summer of 2011 to find more regular first-team football.
His form this season earned the midfielder his first international cap for Scotland against Luxembourg in November last year and his departure south of the border will come as a blow to Inverness manager Terry Butcher.
