Crystal Palace will offer Nikica Jelavic a chance to step off Everton’s bench, the Daily Telegraph has reported, with Tony Pulis looking to sign six players this month in an attempt to maintain the club’s Premier League future.
Pulis has made a new striker a priority this month and Jelavic, who has fallen behind Romelu Lukaku under new manager Roberto Martinez, is understood to be on the manager’s wanted list. The Eagles will offer Everton £3.5m for the former Rangers forward.
Jelavic is also wanted by Queens Park Rangers – the side against whom Jelavic on Saturday scored his first Everton goals since March 2013 in an FA Cup tie – and would have to take a pay cut to move to Selhurst Park. Pulis is said to be hopeful that the chance to remain in the top flight will push Jelavic away from west London to the south of the capital.
Pulis also wants to sign the likes of Tom Ince from Blackpool and Scott Dann from Blackburn Rovers. Jelavic, 28, moved to Goodison Park from Rangers in the 2012 winter transfer window. The Croatia international would have had a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over QPR but struck the crossbar with a penalty.
