In-form Everton play host to Championship high-flyers Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup third round.
The Toffees were spared from only their second away Premier League defeat of the season by Leighton Baines’ late penalty at Stoke City, but it was another strong performance in Roberto Martinez’ first season at Goodison Park. The club will be hoping that Martinez can mastermind another cup-winning campaign as he did with Wigan Athletic last season, and end Everton’s 19-year wait for a major trophy
QPR struck late themselves on New Year’s Day, as Charlie Austin’s last-gasp goal saw off the challenge of Doncaster Rovers at Loftus Road and ended a run of three games without a win, during which they failed to find the net. The result leaves Harry Redknapp’s team in third place, just a point off an automatic promotion spot, and the considerable Premier League experience within the squad should test their opponents.
Everton will be without Darron Gibson, Phil Jagielka and Arouna Kone, but Sylvain Distin should return after a slight hamstring problem.
Redknapp must decide whether striker Andrew Johnson is fit enough to face his former club, and loan duo Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Tom Carroll are both unlikely to be able to play.
