Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has encouraged his teammates to keep their spirits high, ahead of a tough period of games for the club, Sky Sports has reported.
The Gunners remained at the summit of the Premier League after Manchester City were beaten at home to Chelsea on Monday night.
However with a tough schedule ahead for Arsenal, Mertesacker wants his teammates to stay positive with games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich to come over the next few weeks.
He said: “It is that part of the season when you might feel tired or exhausted, but we have to keep our chins up and now the really important games are coming.
“We have interesting games in the FA Cup, Champions League and Premier League. We have played well this season so far, and we have to keep that level [up].”
The Germany international has been at the heart of the Arsenal defence this season which saw them record their seventh clean sheet at the weekend with a home win against Crystal Palace.
Arsenal face a double-header against rivals Liverpool with a league trip away at Anfield this weekend, followed by the FA Cup fifth round clash the following weekend at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger’s side face United between the games against Liverpool. They host Bayern Munich in the second round of the Champions League.
