Manchester United have confirmed that winger Luis Nani will be out of action for another month due what manager David Moyes has described as a ‘bad hamstring injury’, writes Sky Sports.
The Portugal international has been sidelined by the problem for nearly two months already, having not featured for the reigning Premier League champions since the 1-0 home defeat by Newcastle United on December 7.
The injury is rumoured to be a contributing factor in Nani not leaving Old Trafford during the January transfer window, as Serie A trio Milan, Inter and Juventus had all included the 27-year-old among their list of targets.
Also giving an update on the fitness of midfielder Michael Carrick, Moyes said of Nani’s injury: “He’s getting closer now but I think it will be another month until he will be ready to play.
“Carrick is improving with his ankle and has got a good chance of being in the squad (to face Stoke). He’s improving and has done some training. We’ll just check to see if he can twist and turn correctly before we make a decision.”
Nani signed a new five year contract with Man Utd earlier in the season. Under Moyes, he has made 10 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
