Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion take on Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round, with a meeting with Gustavo Poyet’s Sunderland the prize for the winners.
Since taking over from Poyet last summer, Oscar Garcia has made Brighton a very difficult team to break down, as they have one of the second tier’s best defensive records. Lying just outside the play-off places, the Seagulls are also tough to beat at home, and should represent a challenge to their Premier League opponents. However, they do not score that many either, and are heavily reliant on top scorer Leonardo Ulloa to score their goals.
Hull have already overcome two potential FA Cup banana skins on their way to this stage, eventually winning comfortably at both Middlesbrough and Southend United, so they will know what to expect. Manager Steve Bruce could make changes, as the Premier League is the Tigers’ priority. The Humberside club lie just three points above the drop zone after their recent defeat by Southampton.
Brighton could regain the services of two key players for this clash, as Will Buckley and Keith Andrews have recovered from hamstring injuries.
January signings Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long are both out for Hull as they are cup tied, so Sone Aluko could be handed his first start since October. Goalkeeper Allan McGregor returns following a three match ban.
