Everton midfielder Ross Barkley says current Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is more tactically-minded than his predecessor David Moyes, Sky Sports has reported.
Barkley added that Moyes and Martinez have some things in common but feels that a player of his age will learn more from the Spaniard than the Scot.
“Roberto Martinez has come in and given everyone confidence. He’s a positive man and doesn’t say anything negative,” Barkley said.
“He’s similar to David Moyes as they both like to take over the training session and be the main man but Martinez is more tactical. We do a lot more tactical work which is good for me because I’m young and still learning.”
Barkley was given his Everton debut by Moyes but has become a regular feature in the first team under Martinez, his form this season propelling him into Roy Hodgson’s England squad.
Everton are currently sixth, one place above Moyes’ current club Manchester United. Martinez guided Everton to a win at Old Trafford in December and the sides meet at Goodison Park on April 20.
