Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has expressed his disappointment at being left out of Roy Hodgson’s 23-man England World Cup squad, announced today.
Carrick, 32, has made 29 appearances this season for a United side that has severely disappointed, resulting in the sacking of David Moyes last month. And the 31 times capped midfielder took to Twitter to react to the news of his omission:
“Disappointed to be left out of the squad, World Cups are special and to miss out hurts. Want to wish the boys the very best of luck.”
The central midfielder is joined by Tom Cleverley, who also missed out, as youngsters Adam Lallana, Ross Barkley, and Jordan Henderson claim places in the England midfield setup.
