Arsene Wenger could make a double move for two of Chile’s World Cup stars as the Daily Telegraph reports the Arsenal manager is keen on Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez and Juventus’ Arturo Vidal.
It’s claimed that the Gunners have made a £22m offer to Barca for Sanchez, although the Spanish club are likely to want more like £30m. There is talk that Sanchez could be offered to Liverpool to sweeten Barca’s move for Luis Suarez, but Arsenal are hopeful of getting the former Udinese forward.
Vidal, meanwhile, would cost something close to £40m and is a target for Manchester United. The price could dissuade Wenger from following up on the 27-year-old, with players such as Lars Bender, Morgan Schneiderlin, Sami Khedira and Luiz Gustavo mentioned as alternatives.
Sanchez and Vidal helped Chile out of Group B at the World Cup, with wins over Australia and Spain preceding defeat to the Netherlands. Chile took Brazil to extra-time in the Round of 16, the tie eventually decided on penalties in the hosts’ favour. Both Vidal and Sanchez have won more than 50 caps for their country.
