Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will meet in the Champions League quarter finals, BBC Sport has reported, a repeat of last season’s final.
The Primera clubs were pitted against each other in Friday morning’s draw in Nyon, Los Blancos having come through a nervy tie against Bundesliga side Schalke and Los Rojiblancos seeing off Bayer Leverkusen in a penalty shootout.
Madrid won their last European meeting, Sergio Ramos scoring a late equaliser in the May 2014 final, Carlo Ancelotti’s team going on to win 4-1 after extra time, with goals from Marcelo, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain, conquerors of Premier League leaders Chelsea, meet Barcelona in a reprise of a group stage fixture, while Portuguese giants Porto play Bayern Munich and Juventus are paired with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.
The first legs of the quarter-finals will be played on April 14 and 15, with the second legs held on April 21 and 22.
In the Europa League, Sevilla play Zenit St Petersburg, Dnipro meet Club Brugge, Dynamo Kiev face Fiorentina and Wolfsburg go against Napoli, with games to be played on April 16 and April 23.
