Chile international Charles Aranguiz would be interested in a move to Arsenal after playing for his country at the Emirates Stadium against Brazil, ESPN has reported.
Aranguiz is currently plying his trade with Brazilian side Internacional but there has been speculation regarding interest in the 25-year-old from Gunners manager Arsene Wenger and other Premier League clubs.
He was asked about a potential switch to English football in general and Arsenal in particular after the 1-0 defeat to the 2014 World Cup hosts and indicated he would welcome the prospect but stressed there’s nothing in the pipe line as things stand.
“They’re a great team, and it would be a dream but for now that’s all it is, a dream,” Aranguiz said. “I don’t know anything about it. I’ve heard about it through the press but nobody has talked to me.”
Aranguiz started his career at Cobreola in his homeland and has also represented Cobresal, on loan, Colo Colo, Argentinean outfit Quilmes and Universidad de Chile before signing for his current club in 2014. Aranguiz has more than 30 caps for Chile to his name from his senior debut in 2010, including a number of appearances at the World Cup, at which he also scored against Spain in Chile’s 2-0 victory.
