Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is expected to speak to Mesut Ozil over claims the Germany international attended a Berlin nightclub shortly after missing the Gunners’ win over Newcastle United through illness, the Independent has reported.
Ozil is not being accused of a serious breach of club discipline, but having been without the World Cup winner for the game on Tyneside, Wenger is understood to be planning to ‘remind Ozil of his responsibilities’ when he returns to the club after international duty. Ozil was allowed to travel to Germany early after being left out of the squad that travelled to the North East but was pictured clubbing in Berlin.
Arsenal beat Newcastle through goals from Olivier Giroud, Moussa Sissoko on target for the Magpies, with the London club third in the Premier League, a point behind champions Manchester City and seven adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
Ozil has this season made 22 appearances for Arsenal, scoring four goals, and in total has featured 62 times under Wenger since his £42.5m move from Real Madrid in 2013, scoring 11 goals.
