Arsenal could make a summer move for Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic, ESPN has reported.
It’s claimed that manager Arsene Wenger will make signing another centre-back one of his summer priorities – despite the arrival of Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal in the January transfer window.
Wenger’s search for a new option in defence is tied to question marks over Per Mertesacker, ESPN say, and Subotic is one of Wenger’s first choices. The Gunners would however face competition for Subotic from the likes of Juventus, Roma and Napoli, while Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with the 26-year-old in the past.
Subotic, who will be in the final year of his contract at the end of the season, has been at Dortmund since a 2008 move from Mainz, where he started his professional career. The former Serbia international has made more than 200 appearances for the club, winning two Bundesliga titles, and rejected the chance to return to the national team ahead of the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
