Everton have been told by Tottenham Hotspur that they would have to pay £6m to complete the permanent signing of winger Aaron Lennon, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
Lennon left White Hart Lane for Goodison Park on a loan deal until the end of the season in the January transfer window and to date has made seven appearances under Roberto Martinez, scoring once – the winner in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Loftus Road.
Seamus Coleman put the Toffees in front only for Eduardo Vargas to equalise before Lennon’s late goal gave Everton an eighth win of the season and moved the club to 13th, nine points clear of the bottom three.
It’s not yet known if Martinez is keen on signing the former Leeds United starlet on a full-time basis, and the question of Lennon’s wages will be a factor as the manager considers Everton’s summer transfer activity.
Lennon fell out of favour at Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino but is thought to have a number of admirers in the Premier League who could rival Everton for his signature.
