Tottenham striker Harry Kane has picked up the Premier League Player of the Month award for February, while having won the award for January too. It makes him only the fourth player to have won back-to-back Player of the Month awards since it was introduced to the Premier League, report BBC Sport.
The 21-year-old has been in fantastic form for the Londoners this season, and could well top the scoring charts at the end of the campaign if he can continue his rich vein of form in front of goal. Tottenham have become heavily reliant on his sharp finishing exploits and fantastic all-round game, while England looks a certainty when manager Roy Hodgson names his next squad.
In January, Kane scored two goals against Chelsea (5-3 victory) one against Crystal Palace (2-1 defeat), and two against West Bromwich Albion (3-0 victory). He continued his scoring exploit’s the following month, netting twice against fierce rivals Arsenal (2-1 victory), once against Liverpool (3-2 defeat), and once against West Ham (2-2 draw).
The England hopeful admitted his delight to have won the Player of the Month award in successive months, as he will join the likes of Robbie Fowler (Liverpool), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) and Dennis Bergkamp (Arsenal) who are the three others to have won back-to-back Player of the Month awards.
“It’s an honour to get this award once in a season, let alone twice in two months. Winning against Arsenal and getting both goals was a special day for myself and for the club too,” said Kane.
