Manchester United have been given a boost in their attempts to sign Barcelona right-back Dani Alves after his agent cast doubt on his future at the Spanish club, the Metro has reported.
The Brazilian has been at Barcelona since arriving from La Liga rivals Sevilla in the summer of 2008, going on to play a key part in a golden era which has included three Spanish title wins and two Champions League successes, but his current contract expires at the end of the season and he appears no closer to agreeing a new deal.
And the 31-year-old’s agent, Dinorah Santana, has revealed that he is edging closer to securing a move to a new club. She said: ‘We’re close to signing with another club, the talks are advanced. Barca? Dani is always available, but he won’t wait much longer. They’re making Dani look like the baddie in this movie and we’re tired of this situation now.’
Alves has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months with Louis van Gaal reportedly keen to sign him in what looks set to be a busy summer for Man Utd in the transfer market. However, the Red Devils also hold reported interest in several other right-backs, including Southampton star Nathaniel Clyne.
