After watching his side thwarted on a number of occasions in their Champions League last-16 second leg win against Manchester City, Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was full of praise for goalkeeper Joe Hart for keeping the Spaniards to just one goal at the Nou Camp, reports Sky Sports.
Hart made a host of saves throughout the 90 minutes to ensure the Sky Blus were never fully out of the clash, but ultimately his incredible performance between the sticks amounted to very little at the final whistle. Barcelona boasted an attack featuring Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, but the trio couldn’t get past the England international all night.
Messi is particular had a frustrating time in front of goal. His performance was brilliant against the Premier League holders, but he should have come away with a goal for his troubles, considering the opportiuries he had, but Hart’s heroics ensured he didn’t. Jordi Alba had a close range effort saved too, and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique single out the City goalkeeper as the reason why the Spaniard’s lead was so narrow come the final whistle.
“We had an incredible number of chances, which isn’t normal in this type of game. Perhaps we lacked a little bit of precision, but we also can’t take away the credit from Hart. We deserved to win much more comfortably given the chances we had,” he said.
