Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara believes Manchester United’s in-form Ashley Young must wait for a recall in the England international, as he believes the former Aston Villa man still has some way to go to restoring his reputation.
Young has been in fantastic form for Manchester United under new manager Louis van Gaal this season, that has seen supporters question when he will get a recall for England. The 29-year-old looked out of the exit door at the end of the last season, but has captured some form and – along with Juan Mata – is now keeping Angel Di Maria out of the side. Young is also said to be close to signing a new deal at Old Trafford.
England don’t have many natural wingers, and many were previously questioning the selection of Tottenham’s Andros Townsend, before the young winger scored against Italy, but Young still stands a chance of a recall by manager Roy Hodgson if he can end the season strongly. He’s at peak age now, and is certainly proving there’s still plenty of him to come in the Premier League, but Chris Kamara isn’t convinced it’s the right move to bring him back just yet.
“There’s no rush for Ashley Young and an England recall – just wait. He should just keep doing what he’s doing. Let’s just calm down and slow down and the England thing will take care of itself as far as Young is concerned,” he said.
