Arsenal were made to settle for a draw against Premier League leaders Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, which meant manager Arsene Wenger is still winless against Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in their 13th meeting, reports BBC Sport.
Chances were at a premium all game, but it was the visitors who posed more threat in front of goal. Ramires spurned a close range opportunity, as the Blues showed real attacking threat at the Emirates, despite not starting the game with a recognised striker. Jose Mourinho’s men were stoic in defence, however, which meant Arsenal couldn’t ever threaten a goal of their own.
Arsene Wenger’s side had a lot of the ball, and worked some good moves together in the final third, but had just one shot on target in the 90 minutes, and will feel they could have done better. They were fortunate to have not conceded a penalty in the first-half, with goalkeeper David Ospina having fouled Chelsea midfielder Oscar early on.
Ultimately, the game panned out as expected, with there being more controversy than goals over the course of the match, and the final result was fair for both teams.
