Arsenal’s pursuit of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is likely to break down quickly due to the Blues’ reticence to sell such a talented star to a key rival, reports the Express.
The Gunners are looking for a world -class goalkeeper to name between the sticks, but aren’t looking to spend astronomical amounts to sign him. While David Ospina has done his job since coming in for Wojciech Szczesny, he’s not setting the Premier League alight, and manager Arsene Wenger is said to be looking at other options as a result.
Chelsea’s Petr Cech would be the ideal signing for him, as the long-serving shot-stopper resides in London, and has proven himself to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world, still to this day. He admitted he didn’t want another season of sitting on the bench at Chelsea, and would likely seek out a move away if manager Jose Mourinho still deemed Courtois to be ahead of him in the pecking order.
But while a move to Arsenal would suit both the Gunners and Cech‘s demand to play for a side in the Champions League, Chelsea will not sell a top play to a title rival, nor would Cech be too keen to play for a London rival either.
