Chelsea will look to sign Inter striker Mauro Icardi this summer, ESPN has reported, one of a number of new faces for the Premier League leaders.
The Blues are believed to have contacted their Italian counterparts over the Argentina international as they look for back-up to Loic Remy and Diego Costa. Jose Mourinho can currently call on Didier Drogba but there is a doubt over the veteran’s involvement next summer, although he has confirmed he isn’t planning on retiring.
Chelsea are also thought to be looking at signing a full-back and a midfielder, as well as two new goalkeepers, should current second choice Petr Cech depart.
Icardi has been an Inter player since a 2013 move from Sampdoria, having played at Spanish club Vecindario during his youth career. Icardi, who moved to Spain with his family as a child, also spent time at Barcelona before heading to Italy. He scored 11 goals in 33 games for Samp and thus far has 30 in 63 for Inter, as well as one senior international cap.
