Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could well make a summer approach for Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette to address his sides lack of goals this season, reports the Express.
Rodgers had been very critical of his sides dwindling goal tally compare to how prolific they were last season, and he’s expected to part company with many of his current strikers in the squad (Fabio Borini, Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert) to fund a summer move for the heavily-coveted Lacazette.
With 24 goals scored in 27 French Ligue 1 games, the 23-year-old is the top scorer in the division this season, and is attracting interest from a host of elite European clubs as a result. But Lyon are adamant on keeping him, believing he can fire them to Champions League participation next season, and could stick around to play a part in the European competition.
But with so many sides looking to tempt him with a big-money move elsewhere, the Frenchman’s time could well be up. He knows he could stand a better chance representing his country as first-choice if he’s firing for a club a lot bigger than Lyon, and Liverpool are hoping they can convince him to move to Anfield.
