Arsenal will make an offer Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin in the summer, and will look to fight of interest from a number of rivals to secure the midfielder’s services, according to Goal.com.
Despite the recent form of Francis Coquelin in a holding midfield position and already having an array of options to fill a position in the centre of the pitch, manager Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer of his fellow countryman and believes he could aid their attempts to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Tottenham are also very much in the race to sign Schneiderlin having missed out on him last summer, when he seemed certain to leave the St. Mary’s Stadium but was eventually convinced to stay. Champions-elect Chelsea, and Manchester United are also said to be monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation closely.
It would take an offer of at least £20m for Southampton to consider selling Schneiderlin, who has been at the club since the summer of 2008 when he joined as a teenager. He has been offered a £60,000 per week contract to stay, but is likely to pursue a move away to fulfil his ambitions of playing Champions League football.
