Chelsea’s PFA Player of the Year Eden Hazard scored the only goal of the game, as the Londoners saw past Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, which sealed the Premier League title for Jose Mourinho’s side, reports BBC Sport.
After a goalless first-half of football, the Belgian international won a penalty minutes before the break. He was felled in the area, but replays suggested it was a controversial decision. Hazard missed the resulting spot-kick, before heading home the rebound to put Chelsea ahead at half-time.
In the second-half, Jose Mourinho’s side were holding out for the narrow victory, and impressively ground the game to a halt as they have done for the majority of the season. In fitting fashion for a Mourinho team winning the Premier League title, Chelsea were somewhat defensive, and made to ensure a lot of pressure from Palace in the last 45 minutes of the game, but held out and got the result.
The Blues sealed the Premier League title by some distance, and earned a clean sheet for their troubles too. They were far from their best, but effective when it mattered, and got the job done.
