Manchester United will approach Tottenham Hotspur for Hugo Lloris should they lose David De Gea to Real Madrid, the Daily Telegraph has reported, and will offer cash plus Victor Valdes for the France international.
Champions League semi-finalists Madrid have long been mooted as a possible destination for De Gea, who joined United from Los Blancos’ city rivals Atletico Madrid in 2011. The 24-year-old has gone on to make more than 170 appearances for United, winning the Premier League title in 2012-13 and breaking in to the senior Spain squad, but has been regularly linked with a return to his native country.
Should Madrid make their interest concrete this summer then it is to White Hart Lane United would look, and Spurs’ Lloris. A fee of £25m is suggested and United would add former Barcelona goalkeeper Valdes to the deal. Valdes left the Nou Camp at the end of last season and, after recovering from a serious knee injury, signed on at Old Trafford in January 2015. He has yet to make an appearance in the first team under manager Louis van Gaal.
