Chelsea seem to be resigned to losing veteran shot-stopper Petr Cech this summer, with the Blues reportedly targeting Queens Park Rangers’ Rob Green as his replacement, according to the Daily Star.
The Star claim that Chelsea’s move for Green should open the door for Cech to sign for Arsenal, with the 32-year-old apparently himself claiming he is “99 per cent” sure that he will be plying his trade at the Emirates next season.
QPR have been poor this season, and have consequently (and deservedly) been relegated. This, along with their reported financial struggles, has prompted speculation that a number of players will have to be sold.
If Chelsea do complete the signing of Green, it would be a massive boost for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. As the report suggests, they are willing to make a £10m offer for the Czech international, with the deal potentially hinging on Jose Mourinho’s willingness to sell to a rival.
With Cech allegedly “99 per cent” certain he will be moving to Arsenal, it seems the deal is all but done.
