Manchester United have apparently made an opening £46million bid to sign Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale, according to the Metro.
The Red Devils have held a long standing interest in the Welshman and are keen to bring him back to the Premier League this summer after he endured a torrid season in the Spanish capital.
Bale has struggled to get the demanding Madrid fans off his back this term as he has continually been the subject for some vociferous abuse from the stands.
United are keen to capitalise on this by making a swift offer as Louis Van Gaal looks to ramp up his side’s title chances next season.
The offer is said to have already been rejected by Madrid chiefs, though it has got the ball rolling in terms of a transfer.
Madrid have previously stated that they don’t intend to cash in on the former Tottenham man, after meetings between the player and board suggested that he remains a major part of their plans.
