Brazil have been handed a huge blow with the news that Neymar has been handed a four match ban and will now miss the rest of the Copa America for his sunning off against Colombia, the BBC reports.
The Barcelona forward was given his marching orders for clashing with Colombia players at the end of the 1-0 defeat earlier this week.
He was initially given a one-game ban, ruling him out of Brazil’s final group stage clash with Venezuela on Sunday, but after consideration, the South American Football Confederation have deemed it fit to increase his punishment.
Neymar was seen kicking the ball at Colombia’s Pablo Armero at the final whistle, but then head butted another player that confronted him in the ensuing melee.
Colombia striker Carlos Bacca, who received his own red card for shoving Neymar in the back, will also serve out a two-game suspension.
Both players have been given the right to appeal their bans.
