Arsenal fans have a vested interest in this year’s Copa America as star man Alexis Sanchez is taking part in host nation Chile’s quest for glory.
It’s been a long season for the former Barcelona man, but he managed to cap off a fine season by lifting the FA Cup as well as maintaining Arsenal’s annual qualification ritual into the Champions League.
And it’ll come as a further boost to see that he is still very much in form, as he played a key role in Chile’s opening game of the tournament on Thursday night by providing an assist to help his country beat Ecuador 2-0.
Having already gone ahead thanks to an Arturo Vidal penalty in the 66th minute, Sanchez turned provider with just six minutes left on the clock to set up QPR’s Eduardo Vargas to double their advantage.
Showing that same turn of pace, quick feet, and impeccable vision Gunners fans have got used to all year, he shook off his marker to pick out his teammate for an emphatic finish.
