Liverpool News and Goals
The Colombian international has already stated his desire to leave the club during the transfer window, with a number of Premier League sides all vying for his signature.
And now it appears that the 28-year-old will announce which club he will be heading off in the next few days after it was reported that the £25m release clause in his contract has been activated.
“Jackson’s future is already pretty much decided,” Martinez’s representative Luiz Henrique Pompeo told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
“Things should be clarified in the next few days. He’ll go to a big European club, which will be announced as soon as the contract is signed.
“From what’s been agreed, Porto will receive the €35m (£24m) from the release clause.
“Negotiations have been underway for a few weeks, there are still some details to be sorted out, and then Jackson Martinez’s departure from Porto can become a reality.”
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been making eyes at him for some time now. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is known to be looking to add more options to his forward line, despite having the likes of Olivier Giroud, Danny Welback and Theo Walcott all available.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are still looking to replace the hole left by Luis Suarez, as Mario Balotelli struggled for goals and game time.
