Arsenal are set to make a push to sign veteran Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech in an £11m deal by the end of the week, according to the Manchester United News and Goals” target=”_blank”rel=”nofollow”>Daily Mail.
It should come as a double boost to the club, who are also expecting forward Theo Walcott to sign an extension to his current deal following positive talks about committing his future to the Gunners.
The Mail claims that Wenger is said to be increasingly confident of striking a deal for the 33-year-old. Having already made a formal approach for his signature, talks are expected to speed up this week.
The Gunners had initially been unsure of their chances at landing the Czech international given the rivalry between the two clubs, but have since been buoyed by reports that the Blues would reluctantly allow him to link up with Arsene Wenger’s men.
Further talks are planned for this week, where a transfer fee will be thrashed out as Chelsea look to secure a minimum of £10m for his services.
