Arsenal have been told that they can sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, as long as they pay the French club £21m.
According to The Telegraph, talks have stalled over a new deal for the 24-year-old, which has forced the Ligue 1 side to put forward the relatively low – given the season he has just enjoyed – asking price.
He scored 27 times in just 33 games, which made him the third highest goalscorer across Europe, behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
That record will have inevitably made the best clubs across the continent sit up and take notice, and The Telegraph suggest that it is the Gunners who lead the chase.
Despite Olivier Giroud finding the back of the net 14 times in the Premier League last year, fans are questioning whether the club have a forward capable of guiding them to the title. But, if Lacazette joins and can reproduce the form that he has displayed in France, then the Gunners may have the kind of striker that supporters have been craving.
