Arsenal are said to be preparing a mammoth contract to keep Theo Walcott at the club this summer, according to the Daily Express.
Walcott has been linked with a move to Anfield recently, as part of a possible swap deal for Reds star Raheem Sterling.
However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is also said to be a big fan of the 26-year-old’s, and has also been tipped to make his own move to prize him away from the Emirates Stadium.
The England international is about to enter the final year of his contract with the Gunners, but Arsene Wenger has maintained his confidence in being able to convince him to stick around on a new deal.
And reports are suggesting that talks between the two are set to be ramped up this week, with Walcott in line for a £40,000-per-week raise in order to put him amongst the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as the club’s highest earners.
Walcott has had concerns about how much playing time he’ll get next term, but Wenger has hinted that he may deployed as a striker more often.
