Atletico Madrid could be about to give Javier Hernandez another shot at La Liga stardom, after reports suggested that the Spanish side are interested in the Manchester United man.
TalkSPORT report that the Mexican has no future under Louis van Gaal, having spent the Dutchman’s first season at Old Trafford out on loan with Atleti’s city rivals Real, and is expected to be sold in the opening days of the window.
But, Simeone may have been encouraged by Hernandez’s year at the Bernabeu. He made 23 appearances in the league, and scored seven times, which seems much more impressive when you consider that he made just seven starts for Los Blancos.
United fans may be a little disappointed about his imminent departure, especially as he seems to have been given little chance to prove himself under the new manager. But, Atletico will be hoping that they get the forward that proved lethal inside the box during his peak, and helped the Red Devils to two Premier League titles.
