Luis Enrique is keeping an eye on the situation regarding Manchester United’s record signing Angel di Maria, having decided that he wants to bring the winger back to La Liga.
According to the Daily Mail, the Barcelona boss wants the 27-year-old, however Juventus’ Paul Pogba remains the main target.
The main stumbling block to any potential deal is the transfer embargo that prevents any new signing for the Catalan club playing until January of next year. It seems unlikely that either player will be happy sitting on the sidelines for half a season, although the lure of a move to the Nou Camp may be enough to sway their decision.
And it seems difficult to imagine that many Manchester United fans will be too disappointed to see di Maria leave the club. Although he made a fast start to life in the Premier League – scoring a sumptuous goal against Leicester in September – his struggles have made the near £60m they spent on him (via Daily Mail), seem like money down the drain.
However, the Mail suggest that Louis van Gaal is keen to keep the club’s record signing.
