Chelsea have audaciously offered Brazilian playmaker Oscar and £35.5m in their attempt to lure Juventus star Paul Pogba to Stamford Bridge, reports are suggesting.
According to the Metro, the Blues are already in talks with the player’s agent about a possible switch to the Premier League champions, although Manchester City lead the English charge for his signature.
Meanwhile, Barcelona cannot be discounted, the Metro suggest. However, their transfer ban means that any player signed will not be able to play until January (via BBC Sport), which may put the 22-year-old off a move to the Nou Camp for the time-being.
That could help Jose Mourinho’s hopes of landing the star, as will offering Oscar as part of the deal. The Daily Mirror have previously reported that Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri is a fan of the player, so getting him in return – along with £35.5m – may soften the blow of losing his key man.
Nevertheless, the prospect of letting such a talent walk out the door at Juventus Stadium is likely to see Allegri dig his heels in to make sure that, if faced with no alternative, he can get the best deal possible to allow him to try and replace the hole that Pogba would leave.
