Chelsea have reportedly taken the lead over rivals Manchester City and Manchester United in the hunt for Juventus star Paul Pogba, according to the Daily Express.
The 22-year-old has found himself at the centre of some frenzied speculation surrounding his future this summer with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City along with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid all vying for his signature.
However, according to sources in Italy, the Blues have opened talks with the player’s agent, Mino Raiola about a possible switch to Stamford Bridge.
However, a deal to bring him to west London is said to be rife with complications – the biggest being the supposed £7m-a-year salary he is believed to be demanding.
Pogba is hoping to be the club’s highest paid player, and is refusing to drop his demands.
Plus, there is also the factor of negotiating his image rights, which still belong to his former agent Oualid Tanazefti.
