Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has confessed that he would love to see Felipe Luis leave Chelsea this summer and make a return to the Spanish capital, according to the Daily Express.
The Brazilian international departed the Vicente Calderon last summer to link up with the Blues, but failed to make an impact with the west Londoners over the course of the campaign.
Making just 15 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s men, he was kept on the sidelines by Spanish international Cesar Azpilicueta – a natural right-back.
But before he left for the Premier League, he played a crucial role in Atletico’s unexpected title triumph in La Liga, making 32 appearances as they kept Barcelona and cross-city rivals Real Madrid at bay.
And now Simeone has admitted that he would be delighted to link up with the 29-year-old once again in the Spanish capital and help him get back to his best.
“Filipe is a player we like a lot as a kid but who also knows us well and has given a lot to the team,” Simeone told Spanish news paper AS Diario.
“I hope it happens.”
