Arsenal have announced today that they have completed the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.
The Czech Republic international revealed that it was Arsene Wenger that helped make his mind up that moving across London was the right move for him.
“When Arsene Wenger spoke to me about his ambitions for this club, and how he saw me as part of this team, the decision was clear,” he said.
Meanwhile, the manager confirmed that he has liked the stopper for a while, so he was delighted for him to join.
“Petr Cech is a player that I have admired for a long time and I am very pleased that he has decided to join us. He has proven over many seasons that he is one of the outstanding keepers in the world and he will add great strength to our squad,”
The news is likely to please many Gunners fans, who have had to watch a series of goalkeepers scupper their chances of putting themselves into the Premier League title picture in the past few years.
In Cech, they have one of the most reliable men between the sticks that currently plays the game. While Thibaut Courtois was preferred by Jose Mourinho for much of last season, the veteran displayed that he still has the ability to shine at the very highest level when he was given an opportunity.
