As the official Liverpool News and Goals” target=”_blank”rel=”nofollow”>Premier League released list today, we take a closer look at who has been let go this summer to make a combined XI of the best names available.
However, there are some anomalies. This list will only cover players that have actually been let go. So for example, Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar isn’t on the list, as the club are intending to offer him a new contract. And Steven Gerrard hasn’t made the cut because he has already agreed terms to join another club (LA Galaxy).
See who makes the team below:
GK: Artur Boruc – Southampton
The Holy Goalie has been jettisoned by the Saints after spending the majority of last season loan with Bournemouth. He could still link up with the Premier League new boys as he will still feel he has some top flight football left in him.
CB: Micah Richards – Manchester City
A right-back by nature, but the former England international can also fill in at centre-back. His Italian experiment with Fiorentina didn’t quite pan out last term, making just a handful of appearances, but he will still have aspirations of rebuilding his reputation.
CB: Brede Hangeland – Crystal Palace
A seasoned veteran now. He helped shore up a shaky Palace back line, but clearly didn’t do enough to warrant an extension. The Norwegian would undoubtedly suit one of the promoted sides, adding valuable experience where it’s needed the most.
LB: Ryan Taylor – Newcastle United
He may not be a glamorous name, but with bags of experience and a rocket of a left foot, he’ll prove to be a clever acquisition providing he can stay fit.
