Liverpool have reportedly begun discussions over the possible signing of Juventus forward Fernando Llorente, as Brendan Rodgers looks to add some much-needed experience to his youthful side.
According to the Daily Express, the 30-year-old would be keen on a potential move to the Premier League having spent two years with the Old Lady.
Despite the Serie A side enjoying a hugely successful period recently, it is been a difficult time for the Spain international personally. He has struggled to establish himself in the side with the likes of Carlos Tevez and Alvaro Morata keeping him out.
And while Tevez appears to be on the verge of returning home to Argentina to join Boca Juniors (via Daily Mail), Morata remains, and Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic have been recruited, the Express report, sending Llorente even further to the periphery of Massimiliano Allegri’s team.
If he were to join the Reds however, it is likely that he will be considered one of the main options up front, along with Daniel Sturridge and perhaps Danny Ings. And with Sturridge’s persistent injury struggles, it may give the former Athletic Bilbao forward a chance to sign before he has to battle with his teammate.
However, the Merseyside club will have to beat off competition from Monaco for his signature, after the Express revealed that the Ligue 1 side had had a £11m bid rejected.
