Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will reportedly allow Robin van Persie to leave the club this summer so he can use the money to fund a move for PSG striker Edinson Cavani, according to the Daily Star.

The former Arsenal star looks increasingly likely to exit in the coming weeks, having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and with the likes of Juventus sniffing around, Van Gaal is tempted to ship him out and replace him with the Uruguayan international.
However, van Gaal will want to make sure that a serious deal to sign Cavani can be struck, as the side will be painfully short of options up front.
Cavani would undoubtedly add a huge goal threat to the club, as the 28-year-old is one of the most in form strikers in Europe right now.
But one stumbling block in United’s plans will be PSG’s valuation of the player, with them looking to collect around £50m for his signature.
