Arsenal have completed their first signing of the summer, after reports suggested that Chelsea’s Petr Cech’s proposed move to the Emirates was now complete.
It had been reported earlier in the day that the goalkeeper had agreed personal terms and was just waiting on a fee to be agreed upon by the two clubs (via Sky Sports). However, according to the Daily Mail, all the details have now been ironed out, and Petr Cech is now an Arsenal player, although there has been no official confirmation just yet.
Coincidentally, Cech’s first game for his new club could come against the Blues in the Community Shield.
However, the 33-year-old’s arrival may prove bad news for either of the Gunners’ two current goalkeepers, with the Mail reporting that David Ospina or Wojciech Szczesny could leave the club this summer. The Colombian seems the most likely departure, with the Mail reporting that Fenerbache are keen.
That is unlikely to bother Arsenal fans however, as it is difficult to imagine that either would have been first-choice now Cech has arrived.
