Everton manager Roberto Martinez has reportedly targeted a move for misfit Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The Germany international is likely to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer, after being told by Arsene Wenger that he is free to find a new club as he won’t be a part of his plans for the forthcoming campaign.
Podolski spent the second half of the season on loan with Inter Milan, but the Italians aren’t keen on retaining his services, and the news has alerted the Goodison Park chief, Martinez, who could look to begin talks to facilitate the move.
Martinez will now look to negotiate a deal for the 30-year-old, with Martinez keen to push the move ahead if the price is right.
Podolski, who joined Arsenal three years ago from Bayern Munich, has now seemingly resigned himself to moving on this summer.
“If I find the right club, right coach and right environment, I’ll evaluate it,” he said.
“If these conditions are met, I think everything is possible.”
