Reports have suggested that Juventus forward Carlos Tevez could be heading back to the Premier League, but it won’t be with Liverpool.
The Daily Express report that the 31-year-old is set to leave Juventus Stadium this summer, after a successful year that saw the Old Lady clinch their fourth consecutive Scudetto, win the Coppa Italia for the first time in two decades, and reach the Champions League final. Despite being the focal point of the side’s attacks, Tevez is set to depart Turin.
And there seems to be no shortage of takers for the Argentinian, with the Express reporting that four clubs have made an official bid for the striker. However, Liverpool – who have been linked with the former West Ham, Manchester United, and Manchester City man – are not believed to one of the sides that has made an offer.
However, it does appear that Tevez could still be coming back to the Premier League next year, with the Express reporting that one of the quartet of clubs to have registered their interest is from England, although the favourite for his signature is Atletico Madrid.
The news may not come as a surprise to Reds fans, as it was always going to be a challenge to convince him to choose a side not playing in next year’s Champions League, but it will still prove to be a disappointment. Tevez has proved this year that he can still be considered one of Europe’s most ruthless marksmen – having scored 20 times in the top flight – and would be a massive improvement on the majority of the attackers currently in Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
