Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that influential playmaker Mesut Ozil will not be leaving the club this summer, according to reports in the Metro.
The World Cup winning Germany international has recently been linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus, who are now seeking a replacement for the departed Andrea Pirlo (via Daily Express).
However, Wenger is keen to hold onto the 26-year-old, and has responded quickly to the rumours that he will look to cash in on the player this summer.
“Ozil is our player,” Wenger said. “He will remain our player and he wants to remain our player.
“It is a big season for him because he had a difficult start last year and in the second part of the season he was very important.
“He understands the rhythms of English football and he has improved his defensive attitude. He works hard and offensively he is a top class player.
“There are many offensive players who have an important season in front of them but I’m confident because I think they have the quality.”

Ozil made 48 appearances across all competitions last season, despite missing a portion of the campaign through injury.
After several seasons of disappointment, Wenger is now starting to build the kind of squad that will be able to consistently challenge for honours in the Premier League and in Europe.
Keeping his best players, like Ozil and fellow forward Alexis Sanchez, will be paramount to attaining their goals.
What Wenger needs most now is a striker that will be able to put away the chances that the likes of Ozil will create.
